We have made our playground more colourful and interesting in lots of different ways. We have planted lots of flowers in tubs and in hanging baskets. The colourful kites flutter in the wind.
May is our cook. She is very good at gardening and she has helped us to set up a wee vegetable garden in the playground. We have set it up in big blue tubs and have used loads of really old manure , compost, fleece to keep the frost off and chicken wire to make sure the deer don’t nibble the veg before it is fully grown.
When the veg is ready we will make it into soup.
We really enjoyed crunching our very own Kilninver carrots and as you can see from th photos we did very well at the Local Show. We entered the potato and display of mixed veg sections and got second place.
2. In December 2006 we planted about 500 bulbs around the school grounds so in the Spring we will post some photos of what it looks like then. The bulbs came from a charity called MG. We have raised some money for them and also for Marie Currie Cancer Care. For Marie Currie we planted daffodils in pots.
3. Oct 2008 While dressed up as knights and dragons we harvested this years beetroot and carrot crops. Our leek has gone to seed so we are waiting 'til spring to see what happens with it next. Watch this space.
